Some people have addictive personalities and can become addicted to many things including work, exercising, shopping, books, gambling or just about anything, including games. Games are much better than many of the alternatives. Games are safe, fun, and improve intelligence with problem solving, reflexes, reading and math skills. This is why many learning programs for children now involve some form of a game. Games help to keep people focused while allowing them to learn new things. Just as most people can work, read, exercise or go shopping without becoming addicted; for most people that play games, it never becomes an addiction. While you hear reports of people that go to extremes, those are rare cases and do not represent the gaming community as a whole.
